Taught by experienced real estate instructor Candy Cooke, this course covers important updates to statutes and Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) rules relevant for the 2026 – 2027 education cycle.
Course Purpose
The Legal Update I and II courses are designed to enhance professional competence among real estate agents and brokers in Texas. The curriculum includes:
- Recent legislative changes impacting real estate practices
- Updates to TREC-promulgated contract forms
- Rule revisions adopted by the Texas Real Estate Commission
- Practical implications for day-to-day real estate transactions
These updates help license holders navigate new laws, reduce risk, and stay informed on best practices in the Texas real estate market.
Who Needs to Take Legal Update I?
All Texas real estate license holders are required to complete Legal Update I and Legal Update II prior to license renewal.
This requirement is mandated under Section §535.92 of the TREC Rules. Failing to complete these courses may result in a lapse or suspension of your license.
