Course Description

Why should Texas agents and brokers care about mineral, oil, and gas rights?

Whether you specialize in thousand-acre ranches or tiny lots in town, you need to consider what lies beneath the surface. Mineral rights can affect ANY piece of property, even town tracts. (Think horizontal drilling.) And title companies will NOT necessarily tell you all you need to know about minerals. For that, you need an attorney or a landman.

Meagan Campion IS a landman — she researches deeds and records to find out who owns the surface, who owns the mineral rights underneath, and whether those rights have ever been severed. She’s also a veteran Texas broker who specializes in farm and ranch. In this class, Meagan will give you the lowdown on what you need to know about mineral rights, how to talk to your clients about these issues, and how to find experts who can research mineral rights for you. You’ll come away ready to handle mineral rights questions when they — inevitably — come up.
